HOLY BOLDNESS
One thing to be remembered when canvassing is after you leave the home chances are that you will never see these people again - so why not leave it all on the table? One time I visited a prospect who had bought the books from an S.M. Isaac some twenty years earlier. The father told me how Isaac refused to leave and that "I finally bought the books just to get rid of him." I asked the client if he was glad he purchased the books, to which he replied, "Oh yes, the children love them very much."
There are times when my prospects have told me that they were feeling uncomfortable with the pressure I was putting on them. I look them straight in the eye and say, "I have been selling these books since 1984, helping boys and girls with their character building to keep them strong against the evils of this world. I have been helping people like yourself to prevent disease and offer alternatives for healing without the use of drugs. If I am guilty of anything here today, it is in my strong appeal to help your family. I could be trying to sell you vacuum cleaners, pots and pans, computers or life insurance but I am here as a missionary and I feel God has led me to your home. I hope you don't mind that I have given it my best shot." Many times the customer has thanked me for trying so hard to help them. Sometimes it turns the sale around into a positive situation. When the world gets bold it can border on rudeness. However listen to the Bible examples when God's children use holy boldness:
"Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John ... they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." [Acts 4:13] ..."And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto Thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak Thy word." [Acts 4:29] ... "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness." [Acts 4:31] ..."Great is my boldness of speech toward you ..." [2 Cor 7:4] ..."According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: in whom we have boldness." [Eph 3:11,12] ... "According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body ..." [Phil 1:20] ..."Purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus." [1 Tim 3:13] ..."Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way ..."
[Heb 10:19,20] ..."Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as He is, so are we in this world." [1 J 4:17]
You may have noticed there are no examples of the early disciples using holy boldness to further their ministry. They doubted if Jesus could feed the multitudes; they told the mothers to take their little children away from bothering Jesus; they asked fire from heaven to come down and burn up those against Christ. But when the disciples received the Holy Spirit they became different men and women. Boldness in your literature ministry is a necessity so that:
(1) your customers will marvel at your boldness and know that you are Christ's
(2) you will no longer be afraid of threatenings
(3) you will pray earnestly for boldness through the Holy Spirit
(4) you will speak freely in great boldness whenever the occasion demands it
(5) our boldness comes from Christ
(6) you will have no shame when it comes to speaking in boldness
(7) all of this is possible because of the blood of Christ
(8) timidness gone, you enter into a Most Holy Place relationship with Jesus
(9) you act like we are living in the pre-Advent judgement of the world
(10) you are no longer a disciple, or follower of Jesus, but an apostle, or teacher of Christ
Many sale closings require a degree of holy boldness. To be transformed from a timid LE afraid of his own shadow, into a champion, then you must possess holy boldness.
